How to Transfer Oil Between Carts Without Syringe
Dab syringes make transferring oil between carts super easy. But, if you don’t have any/don’t want to buy any, there is a simple way to transfer oil from one cart to another. Heat a bowl of water in the microwave for ~ 2 minutes. Place your vape cart in a sealed sandwich baggie and submerge it in the warm water for a few minutes. This should soften the concentrate within the cartridge so that you can pour/scrape it out into another cartridge. Tip: Do this on top of a non-stick dab mat or wax paper in case of spillage.
How to Open a Distillate Syringe
Plunger syringes (most of our distillate syringes are plunger syringes) are easy to open and fill. Simply pull the plunger out of the syringe - it should pop right out, leaving a wide opening that you can fill with your liquid concentrate of choice. Some tip caps are pull off, while others are twist off. Both should be relatively easy to open. The Luer Lock Syringes are designed to secure the tips in place, but can be easily detached and discarded when it’s time to switch them out.
Can You Dab Distillate From a Syringe?
Yes! Use the dab applicator syringe to squeeze a dab of concentrate onto your dab tool and then use the tool to apply the concentrate to your banger/nail. Or, with a metal tip attachment, you can apply your concentrate dabs directly to the banger/nail with the syringe.
How to Fill Distillate Syringes
Open the widest end of the syringe - most of the time, a plunger syringe’s plunger will pull all the way out, leaving a wide opening. Sometimes, the plunger doesn’t pull out and the tip needs to be opened. Tip caps are typically easy pull or twist off caps. Once the syringe is open, use another dab syringe or a teeny tiny funnel to fill the empty dab syringe with concentrate. Tip: Stop filling and tap the syringe gently on a table or with your nail every once in a while to help reduce air bubbles in the dab syringe.
How to Use a Concentrate Syringe
Concentrate syringes are super easy to use! First, attach a tip to your syringe if it doesn’t have one already. Most tips, including Luer Lock tips, are screw on. Once your tip is in place, slowly press the plunger (or twist in the case of our DymaPak Twistspenser syringes) to release a drop of concentrate. You can either drop it onto a dab tool for application to your banger/nail or, with a metal tip, apply the dabs directly to your banger/nail.

What Are Dab Syringes?
Dab syringes are specialized applicators designed for precise dispensing of cannabis concentrates, particularly distillates and oils. Unlike medical syringes, these tools are specifically engineered for handling viscous cannabis extracts with accuracy and minimal waste. They typically feature a glass or plastic barrel, plunger mechanism, and a narrow tip for controlled application.
These syringes have become essential tools in the cannabis industry, allowing consumers and processors to handle potent concentrates with precision. Most dab syringes are calibrated with measurement markings, enabling users to dispense exact amounts of product for consistent dosing.
Types of Cannabis Syringes
Distillate Syringes
Distillate syringes are specifically designed to handle highly refined cannabis oil that has undergone distillation to isolate specific cannabinoids. These syringes typically feature:
- Heat-resistant materials that can withstand warming (necessary for handling thick distillates)
- Luer lock tips for attaching different applicator heads
- Clear barrels for visibility of product
THC Syringes
THC syringes are filled with high-potency THC oil and are popular for their versatility and potency. These products:
- Often contain between 70-95% THC
- May include strain-specific terpenes reintroduced after distillation
- Come in various capacities, typically 0.5g to 1g
Multi-Purpose Syringes for Cannabis Oil
Some syringes are designed to handle multiple types of cannabis concentrates, including:
- Full-spectrum extracts
- CBD-dominant oils
- Terpene-rich formulations
Benefits of Using Syringes for Cannabis Oil
Syringes offer numerous advantages for cannabis concentrate users:
Precision Dosing
The ability to dispense exact amounts is critical for both recreational and medicinal users. Measurement markings on syringes for cannabis oil allow for consistent experiences and proper dosing.
Versatility
Dab syringes facilitate multiple consumption methods:
- Direct application to dab rigs
- Filling empty dab carts
- Adding to flower for enhanced potency
- Creating DIY edibles with precise potency
Reduced Waste
Unlike other concentrate containers, syringes allow users to extract nearly all of the product, maximizing value and minimizing waste.
How to Use Distillate and THC Syringes
Warming the Product
Cannabis distillates are often thick at room temperature. To improve flow:
- Place the sealed syringe in a ziplock bag and submerge in warm (not hot) water for 1-2 minutes
- Use a hairdryer on low heat setting, keeping it moving to avoid overheating
- Never microwave or expose to direct flame
Application Techniques
Depending on your intended use, different techniques apply:
- For dabbing: Dispense a small amount directly onto your dab tool
- For cartridges: Attach a blunt tip needle and slowly fill from the bottom up
- For edibles: Precisely measure your desired potency before adding to recipes
Proper Storage of Cannabis Syringes
To maintain potency and prevent degradation:
- Store upright in a cool, dark place
- Keep the tip capped when not in use
- Consider refrigeration for long-term storage (but allow to warm before use)
- For empty syringes, clean thoroughly with isopropyl alcohol before reuse
Many users prefer to transfer their distillates to glass dab containers or silicone dab containers for long-term storage while keeping a portion in the syringe for immediate use.
The Impact of Packaging on Cannabis Products
The way cannabis products are packaged significantly influences consumer perception, trust, and purchasing behavior. Recent research on cannabis packaging preferences shows that packaging style is the most important factor for consumers, with branded and purposefully designed packages preferred over plain formats.
For cannabis concentrates delivered in dab syringes, packaging must meet both functional and regulatory standards. Key considerations include:
- Child-resistant syringe caps to comply with safety regulations
- Clear barrels for visibility and dose accuracy
- Printed indicators for potency, ingredients, and warnings
- Airtight seals to preserve purity and prevent leakage
- Design cues that signal precision, cleanliness, and brand quality
Many producers are now using specialized shatter packaging and other concentrate-specific containers from marijuana packaging suppliers to ensure product integrity and compliance.
Future Considerations for Cannabis Concentrate Delivery Systems
As the cannabis industry evolves, we're seeing innovations in concentrate delivery systems beyond traditional dab syringes:
- Auto-dispensing technology for precise micro-dosing
- Biodegradable and sustainable syringe materials
- Integration with smart devices for dose tracking
- Combination systems that pair concentrates with specific terpene profiles
For dispensary owners looking to stay ahead of trends, investing in diverse dispensary supplies that include various concentrate packaging options is essential. As consumers become more sophisticated, the demand for precise, convenient, and sustainable concentrate delivery systems like advanced dab syringes will continue to grow.
Whether you're a producer looking for packaging solutions or a consumer seeking the best way to handle your concentrates, understanding the nuances of different syringe types and proper usage techniques will help maximize your cannabis experience while ensuring product longevity and potency.
